pros and cons of botox

What is Botox really?

“Botox is the name for a filtered protein that is derived from Clostridium botulinum toxin type A. The protein can tell target muscles to stop contracting and block targeted nerve impulses. When the protein is injected into a treatment area, it prevents the release of a particular chemical known as “acetylcholine.” – From Canada MedLaser

Basically, Botox is a cosmetic procedure that helps to relax the muscles in your face by temporarily paralyzing the muscles. It is typically used on your forehead, mouth, jaw, and eyes. It helps to relax the overused muscles that cause fine lines and wrinkles for three to six months.

Pros:

With a small amount of pain involved, you will get fast results of smoother, tighter skins. The results are almost instant! It will significantly reduce the appearance of wrinkles, smoothing out your skin.

Cons:

Botox is not permanent. It should last about three to six months. Once you start it is important to maintain regular injections for you to continue seeing the effects. There is a small chance of allergic reaction to the drug or other possible harmful side effects. It can be expensive to get botox regularly, ranging from $250 – $1,500.

There is a chance the wrong muscles could be injected causing you to be unable to make facial expressions properly or for the wrong muscles to relax.

Our Take on Using Botox:

Botox in moderation really is a win! It’s the one maintenance that really just helps you look refreshed. I think where people have hesitation is obviously no one wants to look done over, or just plain fake. Hence, our take on moderation! Additionally, we don’t think it is the botox that necessarily makes you look fake, but more typically fillers which is a completely different procedure.

Additionally, Botox can be used to glow up already youthful skin. Really just a smidge of botox in conjunction with a great medical spa treatment such as a hydra facial. This will help you achieve that perfect, youthful canvas.

Be sure to do your own research and decide what is best for you and your health! Finding an experienced and trained provider near you is important.
